Not necessarily. I don't think stacking is a well understood behavior regarding autism.
The prevalent idea is that stacking is linked to a tendency for repetitive behavior in autistic children. I am autistic, and when I was little, I would stack things merely to see how tall of a tower I could make. I would give it a few tries, then quit once I figure out the structure's limits.
So in my case, at least, it was curiosity driven.
