That lack of everything was the cause for more than 10 years of fan works.
Touhou fandom will not die, like there still are small fan communities of old/dead games sprinkled all over the web.

Now, what has been happening, and will continue to happen, is that all those who sought profit by using Touhou will move on to the new "fad" and jump ship. Only those artists who really liked the series will keep making media.

So yeah, its still a shame because Touhou will keep getting less artworks each year.
