Exactly my thoughts.
Chusingura just goes rolling downhill all the way.
My own rating based on each chapters starting from the first: 9/10, 8/10, 8/10, 5/10, 7/10
On one exception though, for the most touching scene.
Scenario 5 at the bridge scene. 「やあ！やあ！やあ！」

Other stuff I didn't like was: The fanservice scenes got so excessive to the point of annoyance. The strict rules of history also made the development feel really repetitive after the 2nd scenario.
