But Arcuied wasn't undead as far as I could tell. She was just a powerful being created by the system with very little to do with vampire mythos other than desire to suck blood. Only later did the undead arise, and those are who she hunts.

But the point is, the word itself alone doesn't prove the status of dead/undead. The Scarlets already have the bat features and that alone is enough to declare them vampires without anything else from lore, but technically even that isn't needed. All a work has to do is give them a classification and that's that. Authors of fiction can make up whatever they want.

But ZUN is too drunk to really care. Back to asses~
