Look at her.
This is not the face of someone with anything resembling human emotions. This is not the face of a Youkai doing what it must in this world to survive and continue existing. Genge is not a youkai, she's a dream demon, and can exist without humans entirely.
Why then, does she torture all who come into her world?
Because she likes it. She just loves hearing the screams of agony as she bends knees backwards, she squeals in delight as grown men beg for their God, tears streaming down their faces as horrific injury comes in the form of a small blonde angel.
And that angel's lineage is that of Abaddon, for God created Man so he would die one day, with no release from whatever suffering he may endure.
Rest assured, Hell hath no fury hotter than Gengetsu. The thickest brimstone and the sharpest pitchfork will feel like a feather bed after what she will have done to you. But those twilight hours at the end of your time on Earth will be but an eternity of total and absolute suffering.
Genge is not your friend. She is an automaton designed by pure reductive selection to hold you on the knife edge of Life as long as is possible.

I think you will find this was Genge's doing, Kurumi was merely a proxy. (She's really too trusting of her friends, Elis can make her do just about anything!)
