OK, I'm on E-4 and I can't get an S-rank victory on at the boss at all on easy mode. My fleet is:

-Shigure K2 and Yuudachi K2 both fully upgraded and both with the 10cm twin guns and radar (type 22 on Shiggy, type 13 on Poi)
-Kongou Kai with 41cm x2, Type 91 AP, and seaplanes
-Haruna Kai with 41cm x2, seaplane, and radar
-Hiyou Kai with 12x Reppuu, 12x Murata, and 12x + 9x Type Zero Model 52 (all battle hardened from E-3)
-Maya-sama Kai, 15cm triple x2 plus radar and seaplanes.

Also using boss node support expedition with 4BB and 2DD and as much firepower as I can load on them. I take the B-D-F-H-Z route recommended on wikia and I do pretty well on the boss node, but she always has about 100-150hp left at the end.
