I feel the same as you anon. Anime and manga are able to do this fine but somehow VN is still a medium where the spectrum is relatively polarized. I think it's probably because we're a minority and companies aim at making products that will for sure sell, so depiction of "mature women" will equal vulgar nukige to thoroughly hit the associated sexual fetishes.
For these people if they were depicted along the lines of pic related it would probably end up being "boring" probably and lose against this >>44163829. On the other end of the spectrum, those who are into young heorines might not be as interested either as opposed to re-experiencing their youth and whatnot.
I'm trying to not be judgemental here, since I know there's a sizeable portion of this thread who are into this genre.
