You might start with north node but there's no hoppo detours like with CAV. It's also not a real problem, at least for me. Second picture on the image had that run started with north and went through all 3 nodes before the boss fight. No sparkling involved.

You can do it perfectly fine without K2s.

As for grinding, 5-1-D is better than 3-2-A even without rotation. 1BB choke full of radars, flagship has 2 sonars 1 depth charge, the rest has 1 sonar 1 depth charge 1 radar. F5 when you don't go to the sub node.
