Hey goats. A friend of mine told me that Ryukishi used to work in childcare protection services before, and what he saw there was a big source of inspiration for the writing of characters such as Satoko, Takano and Maria who went through horrible experiences as we know. Is there a source for such a claim? I'm inclined to believe her because I noticed that it was a somewhat important theme in his works - even in RGD that I haven't read yet.

It's horrifying to think that somewhere in Japan someone could have experienced a punishment similar to the ones in Takano's orphanage, or that a person savage as Teppei actually existed. Rosa was still an uncaring mother (leaving her daughter alone at home to have fun) but it's nothing compared to Satoko or Takano.
