so lemme see if i got this straight...

/jp/ fig threads are ostensibly about posting pics of figs, with relevant commentary. maybe they are pics of your figs that you are happy/proud to own, or maybe they are pics of coming-soon figs or figs that you would love to have or simply look nice.

but if you post figs you own, you may happily get a "mah nigga" comment on your excellent taste, or, more likely, someone will comment on your shit taste just to make you feel bad. also you risk accusation of being a buyfag, and thus a normie, because most buyfags have jobs (though not all).

on the other hand, if you post pics of figs you don't own, understandably you may express your desire to, one day, be able to afford the fig. this is considered whining and justifies labeling the thread as equivalent to shit.

also, if you happen to want/own a fig to which you have no connection to the original source material, yet you want/own it simply because it looks nice, or because it's hot and it turns you on, this justifies others calling you a retard/autist/faggot/etc.

it just seems weird to me. i mean, whatever happened to just enjoying things for their own sake?

pic related; part of my collection. i've never played to heart 2. never watched C3. i adore kud but never played any of the games and got bored of the anime before she even showed up. i am uncertain of the source of maid bride yuki (original pic? game?). but i don't really care. i didn't buy these to fit in, or to gain nerd culture status. i bought them to please myself.

incidentally, i do have a connection to everything else shown, even the lalaloopsies. now i just need some nice glass cases.
