When it comes to the ironic forum goon attitude, that was pretty common in most places where the userbase didn't consist of 13 yr olds. 4chongers adapted that attitude pretty early on too, but in turn that created "ironic fun", where the community is so used to being jaded that when something fun happens, the entire board is riled up and posts their best reaction images.
