I'd say what hurts these threads the most is the combination of two things:

MGs are amazingly niche yet generalized at the same time. There's so much variety in design, personality, and fetishes, it's inevitable there are going to be things people don't like.

Which brings me to point two: People feel the need to be 'right,' to validate their opinions as being correct.

The end result are all these spats and tiffs from differences in ideology, fetishes, and just plain preferences. Sadly there's no easy cure, as it were, but one day, maybe, people will accept different views as being just as valid.
