bosses who were susceptible to Permanents pissed me off a bit - I didn't find it satisfying to win that way. And the Final Boss encounter takes a looooong time. Depending who you ask, that's either great or cheap padding.

There are many ways to go about random battles without using too much MP, like just parrraring with Alice and attacking with status inflicting / highly damaging weapons. Though I consider it faster to blast your strongest spells and just go recharge at the shrine more often, after all it takes a while for the enemies to respawn.

The physical attackers can benefit much more from the custom weapons due to Slayer effects and great tree bonuses, while magical weapons aren't much more useful than the standard stuff you find in stages. I almost never created custom armors until the endgame. Making accessories like Awakened Soul however is absolutely essential.

welp, I would say that such weakness indicators are not necessary. The numbers alone should be enough to tell if you made the right choice.
At least there's the screen flashing: red when critical, green when slayer effect, yellow when both at the same time.
You will see a lot of yellows when this bad mother is in your hands.
