For fuck's sake, OTAKU itself is a fucking INSULT. Don't think for a fucking second that anime and manga are a national past time in Japan. The average Japanese person is about as interested in your anime of choice as the average American is interested in any given comic book hero. Probably less, considering the resurgence comic heroes have had recently due to films. All your Otaku culture? It's as alien to a Japanese businessman as D&D is to an American one.

So /jp/, I can get why you like a lot of the stuff coming out of Japan, because I do too. But why oh why do you feel the need to lionize the country because of it? It's just as pathetic as someone obsessing about Britain because they really like Monty Python, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter.
