He made content, people flocked to it, and here we are now. Some people don't have to try too hard to make something like Touhou popular. Bonus points that ZUN isn't too strict on anyone making fan related stuff of his IP.

At least Sanae isn't involved in this 'Forbidden Scrollery' shitfest (in fact I don't think she's appeared in it at all). She will forever stay pure and innocent in a Canon that's portraying it's characters in an increasingly damning light.
