It's a reference to Frida Kahlo's drawing, "Las dos Fridas(The two Fridas)", a mexican artist.

They are supposed to be hearts. In other words, her heart is out in the open. Gruesome, but I like it. No wonder so many artists picture being her being tortured by having her heart being ripped or cutted. It would kill her.
