If your sole concern is the writing, then why not read actual books? A good book will be much better written than a VN is. And rightly so, since that's all the book has, while a VN is much more than that. There's no reason to pick at one small part of the experience as if it is everything there is.

If you disagree it's probably because you're still too new of a Japanese reader to read the text critically, and your inexperience with the language serves a similar insulating effect to what I described. The only problem is that you will inevitably gain experience as you go on and lose your insulation, and eventually become jaded and start thinking all VNs are shit as a result. Many people abandon the medium entirely when they reach this level, because they lack the self-awareness to realize that their problem is that they tried to access the text directly and thus ruined their own enjoyment.

Also even if you're still in the baby stage of Japanese learning you're just going to get less out of the games than if you'd read a translation anyway, so what's the point? Just use a machine translator and save yourself the effort if that's what you want.
