That's right; there is no chance for a meltdown because if something horrible goes wrong (an earthquake or terror attack shuts off power), the fusion reaction stops automatically as it requires such high temperatures. If the tokamak gets switched off, the plasma hits the tokamak's walls and cools down and fusion stops. And there is no radioactive waste to worry about, and to make things even better, you can't use fusion reactors to make bombs, unlike fission power stations. But it's still true that if you stand near a fusion reactor you will receive radiation, like how the Sun gives you skin cancer.
