a Waifu is simply a character you enjoy quite a bit.
She could be heroic and tear her foes limb from limb, or she could be a nice, sweet girl (or a mix of both).

As long as fanartists keep drawing her, and as long as she appears in various media, she is still "alive" and her story continues.
