>EVA-Beatrice even enforces the idea of a personality being allowed to exist independent of its body and able to commit a crime, but specifically disallows the use of Jessica's body to commit the crime.
Re-read the line just before the red:
"No matter what kind of personality she was possessed by, murder could not be carried out with her body! I wonder if you'll be satisfied if I say it this way?"
This does not suggest in any way that a body without personality can move around the island killing people. She is clearly responding to the possibility of Jessica having a different personality.
>The only time it is defined as 17 is after Erika joins them.
[red]Hi, pleased to meet you! I am Furudo Erika, the detective!! I may be an uninvited guest, but please, welcome me!![/red]
[red]I am the visitor, the 18th human on Rokkenjima!![/red]
With Erika, there are 18 people. So, if we remove Erika there are exactly 17 people.

If you take any theory as a starting point you are bound to find foreshadowing for it. Vague foreshadowing by itself doesn't make it a fair mystery.

>The only way to explain how Shannon came back "from the dead" is if she was never dead to begin with.
It's explicitly stated in red before Nanjo's murder that Shannon was dead.
