it's definitely much better than aa2's, there's sliders for just about everything you'd want to edit along with a material editor if you felt like making maria a slimegirl or something, and apart from said material editor it's all integrated into the actual ui on screen rather than tons of pop-ups like aa2 was
making hair is a bit counterintuitive though, you're better off doing it with accessories rather than actually selecting it in the hair slots because you can actually edit them and move them extensively in the accessory slots like any other accessory and even have different hairstyles for different outfits since accessories don't have to be the same with every outfit, so it ends up coming out better but it's a little weird to get used to initially
