Calm down folks,

Some of you might be aware of news reports claiming that the recent West African outbreak is "out of control" as the toll continues to mount. You might be worried (and understandably so) that this disease will escape its containment and spread via aircraft to European capitols or the continental United States. If allowed to spread unchecked, this certainly could happen. The outlook of such an event would be very grim indeed.

Well folks, I am in Sierre Leone right now as part of the outbreak response team. I want to make it clear that there is no reason to panic, and far from being "out of contrl", the situation is well in-hand.

Conditions on the ground haven't been better for our team. We have been able to track the disease and its vectors to find the isolated areas where this contagion could thrive if not checked. We have been following up on contacts across West Africa, and contrary to the media hype we have been met with nothing short of unquestioned cooperation at all sites.

The outbreak was not unexpected and we have been preparing for years for just this sort of scenario. The local area is well equipped to fight this disease, and with our efforts this minor outbreak won't become a pandemic. The virulence of this strain is frightening, but is not untreatable and its means of transmission makes it straightforward to contain.

All that being said, our funding is not limitless and some of our staff have been stretched quite thing while travelling from site to site. We appreciate continued support in our efforts to erradicate this disease before it spreads further.

We hope someday soon, medical science will find a cure for niggers. Until then, we are working around-the-clock to stop this outbreak.

Sincerely,
Ebola Virus
