VNs suffer from padding. I don't think I've ever really seen a VN where the ero was actually taking up space that could've been used better. Usually there are many other things that could've been cut just as much, if not even better.

The problem is more the pacing. Nobody needs 5 h-scenes with 10 minute breaks between them. Which is why I said once before, I want games to have as many scenes in a route as are making sense and them just to shove the rest into the extra-menu. That stuff can still be taking place during the route's timeline, as pretty much no game shows great detail about every single day and every single hour during them.

And not even CG are an issue, in moege at least. Most of the time there's nothing to make CG for anyway. In my opinion CG are used for events, where the combination of background + sprite does not allow to satisfactorily display what's happening. Now guess how many CG in games don't even do that? Have pic related as an example. Essentially no background, just the girl smiling. Why is that not a sprite? It'd be literally the exact same thing. Of course making such CG is easy, doesn't consume much time and can be used in the broadest story context possible, which is why they are made. Still useless as shit. And you get that on top of 50 or so ero CG, so it's not like the game this is from has no ero and had to fill things in some way.
