In English, "they" is used as a pronoun if you have no idea what sex the person is to whom you're referring.
Just because twitter trannies now say it doesn't matter what you think others' sex is and you need to use "they" until you've asked them their preferred bullshit, it doesn't mean that the original use of the "they" pronoun is now retarded.

For instance, if someone scraped the side of my car while I wasn't there and I later find the scratch I would say, "Oh shit! They scraped my car!", I would never say "she scraped my car" or "he scraped my car" unless I had someone specific in mind.
Alternatively, I could also say, "Oh no! Someone scraped my car!" and that would be correct as well.
