I was a bit hesitant about Vivio at first. For a while I thought she may have introduced a unwanted element into Nanoha's character ultimately used to weaken her role as some ungodly demon of justice, but it was nice to see that Vivio had the opposite effect, Nanoha just continued on as before and showed the world that if she was your mom she would make damn sure you could pick yourself up and stand for yourself. Then Vivio inevitably got kidnapped and gave Nanoha something to be actually effected by for once and even then she just beat her way to her child AND THEN BEAT HER BACK TO NORMAL.

So I'd say Vivio is a positive development. Though I'm not too keen on her power of age progression and magic rainbow balls, but whatever. I guess they were running out of colours to have for their Belkan magic circles.

That's where Vivio comes in. StrikerS is odd in that sense, Fate has her maternal instincts through the roof to the point she seems to be nothing but 'save the children' these days, where as Nanoha really is all about flying in the sky and her way as a mage. She didn't intend on being a mother but got attached to Vivio to the point they are now inseparable.

Still, all things said I'm glad Nanoha's way of thinking tends more encouraging Vivio to stand for herself. Fate tends more towards spoiling children in a attempt to make up for all the neglect she got as a child, Nanoha is all about the building of strength.
