There was this one artist with cute Satoko art who dropped out during Tatariakashi. Really, giving all that screentime to Satoko being cruel and planning the murder of her friends wasn't a good idea. This was the last picture he posted before swearing off Higurashi.

Indeed, the prime example.
@ido_hhh's widely publicized resignation last year (plus a few others) was what gave me the curiosity to look deeper into the situation and trace back to the times of the initial anime announcement.
Most of the quietly lost artists were middle-tier nobodies, not the big and recognizable pop artists. Out of them, almost anyone who displayed genuine love for the characters, particularly Rika/Satoko/Mion, is now gone. Often the ones that made it through were R18 artists interested in rape/guro themes.

It's actually kind of impressive how much the anime team seemed to disregard existing Satoko fans.

You have Hanyuu in a role that doesn't really make much sense just for fanservice, and yet with Satoko they couldn't even mention Keiichi and Shion directly as one of the reasons she hesitates, only her not wanting to kill Teppei and "anyone else".

Did you read the older posts of his 10-hour long rant? I hope I'm misunderstanding the context in of them but it sounded like a fucking manifesto. He's going off the rails, big time. He also changed his whole twitter profile.
Ryuukishi's life is already in danger and Sotsu isn't even over yet.

But, it's kinda strange that he's having a huge meltdown right now. He drew this before episode 10 and more or less got this Satoko in ep10. Also looking at the pixiv comments of this work, I think the split ep10 did should be the most positive outcome from his POV
