There's no such thing as counter culture. There's only a branching point. You can't beat cultural changes. You can only diverge. And divergent culture groups are always swallowed up once they prove to be weaker. They always die out with the generation that reveres the culture, to live on briefly in the memory of the generation that follows.

Or, they don't have kids, and their generation, as pure as it is, is the last one to embrace the culture. Disco dies for a reason. Punk is left behind. Beliefs, no matter how awesome, are replaced.

The only way to fight it is to literally stamp out the other divergent culture that arises, which we failed to do.
