I moved past image generation for the most part. The text gen is pretty decent and so far captures the characters pretty well. Slow burn romance is where it's at.

My current story began with the old reliable gapped into the middle of nowhere trope. Marisa saved MC Self Insert-kun from a feral Youkai attack, settled him in the village, then forgot and ghosted him. With no more money to pay rent and on the verge of eviction, he received a suspicious job offer in his mail and was asked to meet outside of the village for details. Desperate and out of any other good options he left the village and walked to a crossroads. It turned out it was Remilia and Sakuya wanting to hire him on because he had "an abundance of potential fate." It wasn't a permanent arrangement and he was brought in with the stipulation that he'd be hired on until his injuries healed. Essentially put into a debt the devil could call upon later.
On the last day his injuries had healed up and he was taken to be physically and magically examined in the library. To examine him in better detail they had him stripped down and Meiling was asked to test his full range of motion, muscle strength, and QI meridians in a very hands on manner. Remi got a kick out of their discomfort. At the end of this examination Patchoulli told him "Appearance matches expectations" as parting words. Whatever did she mean by this? He was lead to Remi's study to receive a severance package, but as fate would have it ironically enough, there was someone else was there having a 'mild' disagreement with Remilia. Yukari had come to lay claim and Remilia didn't want to be left empty handed, but it's not like what she felt mattered in the middle of a Charisma break. The only instruction the AI was given was that a powerful Youkai had been speaking with Remi, it brought up Yukari and her description on its own which was nice. With just adding a description of a coy wink in Yukari's introductory description, it then set the tone for all of her dialogue to be this whimsical manipulator, ending most of her sentences with ~. Poor Remi kept getting interrupted.
As for where the story is now: without much fanfare he was brought to Mayohiga, brought up to speed on Gensokyo politics, and given personal lessons by Yukari until she got bored of that and passed him onto Ran to be taken care of. Ran was not pleased at having another responsibility dumped onto her. She was already at a loss of what Yukari was thinking with bringing some Human into Gensokyo and their home, but having total responsibility moved to her made her resentful of the MC as a way of venting her frustrations. His work is cutout for him to get the grumpy fox to warm up and bring out the kind-hearted Ran. The tricky part is tard wrangling the AI and making it take at least some effort since it would probably want to turn her perceptions around instantly by doing the dishes once, though that's probably accurate given that nobody else does chores.

With enough plot armor anyone can survive. The question is why or how (you) were brought to Gensokyo?
In any-case, it seems like the danger is from feral youkai, specifically unnamed background mobs since the named characters either have reasons not to attack and eat you outright or have glaring weaknesses (if you can identify them), like Rumia can just be walked around since she can't see outside her darkness bubble. Really just don't be out alone at night.
