I'm stumped on this one. The second clause seems to be telling a story where "she once seemed to eat so much sweets at a cakeshop that she almost died" or something like that (this is my first time encountering ほど so I'm not sure if this is the right way to think about it, but it seems that the "extent" meaning is at play here).
I'm also not sure what the meaning of なら is here, since I can't detect any if-then relations or something between the two clauses.
I appreciate any help. Context is one girl being envious of the other because the other girl doesn't get fat even when eating a lot (pic related is some previous lines).
