This is no different from the old fanbase, except they will keep buying despite complaining. (And considering the amount of sales compared to the amount of threads, most don't really seem to care. Not to mention that a lot of the complainers seem to be from the old fanbase.)

Is this really the case, or have recent releases not appealed to the Steam audience (as they were more things the old fanbase is interested in)? Clannad Side Stories sold 3,229 ± 1,530 copies according to SteamSpy. Even assuming the lowest possible amount of sales, that's well over 2k, which is far more than MG used to sell in pre-Steam days (actually, it might still be more than MG's current sales).

No one's going to actually boycott the game. The most they'll be capable of is not buy something they're not interested in.
