Guess it depends how you define the hags. Don't know if there's any "official" definition. Usually count it as that to qualify as one of the hags, you have to be an older, voluptuous woman and the presumed leader of your respective household.

It would seem like Ran's motherhood is overwhelming. Like a great lightning bolt piecing the heavens on some desert island in the Pacific. Like a great, mighty wave rounding the world seven times to crash upon the shores of Kanagawa. Like a giant meteor smashing into the earth and destroying all life.

And then there's Kanako.

I'm with these guys. I'd rather have had Yuka or Kanako as my mom and maybe I won't be such a failure.

Whenever I'm with my mom my self-esteem takes a huge hit. I don't know why, but when I'm around her I suddenly feel lax, like I don't have what it takes to get stuff done and I have to be quiet, passive and polite because I'm not capable of doing something without help.

Now that I'm living on my own with my own roommate I feel a lot better. Ive always felt more able when my mom wasn't present.

And like the Anon said, Ive lost weight since Ive started living by myself.
