I've been doing Anki for two weeks now and I'm feeling pretty good. I keep a little notebook where I write down all the new kanji I learn and then practice writing them during downtime in class.

Aside from living in Japan/talking to natives, what's the fastest way to improve listening?

Has anyone else stopped adding new cards to their mining deck?
I think I'm going to start winding mine down for a few reasons.
1. I fucking hate Anki and I want to spend less time using it.
2. I'm no longer learning simple words that can be defined with a short definition, and they are better reinforced through reading.
3. I'm stuck in a mentality of "reading to mine new words" rather than "reading to learn Japanese" and I want to get away from that.

I'll still mine certain stuff like words with kanji I'm not familiar with (which is rare) but other than that I'm going to stop adding new words and spend more time reading.

させる is the causative form of する、which means you are making someone or letting someone do something.
もらう is "to receive" with a slight nuance that receiver requested it. て-form + もらう correlates a bit to "doing a favor for"
In short, "You will all do me the favor of retiring from this thread"
