I think she's just trying to find her place again after being gone for so long. I think the problem is a lot of her fan base did move onto other girls, vtubing is such a oversaturated market that if you're gone for an extended period of time you can lose members, because they are used to watching videos and if you remove that then they will go look elsewhere, they might even find chuubas that they like better.
Kanata doesn't have a Holo to really play off of either, as much as the leech insult gets thrown around Kanata is at her best when she can paly off another Holo. Her collabs were always entertaining. It sucks that she got written into Coco's shadow though and with her gone Kanata is just sort of there. She needs to do something to reinvent herself and bring back her following.
