>Why was the Institute even making Synths
Because synthetic humanoids are an ideal workforce, with all of the capacity of a human while having none of the setbacks a traditional robot would have. It was their belief that synthetic humans were merely highly advanced robots, after all.
>Why did the Railroad believe they were all good bois who did nothing wrong
Because they were an ideologically driven movement that did not operate on anything but a sense of misguided morality, and Boston, only being hit by a single nuke, was capable of sustaining civilization enough for a group focused on something other than survival to emerge.
>Why did the Minutemen magically make a portal to the Institute out of tape and grit
In a world powered by stupidly false understandings of science, how does that seem any different compared to power armor powered by mini nuclear fusion devices? It's scientifically themed magic, and it always has been. The only difference is that the Teleporter is not purely based in the 50s aesthetic.
>What even WAS the deal with the Brohood
They re-merged with the Brotherhood offshoot in 3 that was closer to the original goal of the Brotherhood after the new Elder took over the organization. He reunified the Brotherhood, essentially took control of the Capital Wasteland, and now runs it as a quasi-country. Of course they'd be harsher than the literal "knights of honor" 3 tried to portray them as.
Any questions?
