To be fair, sexual hang-ups were indeed a large part of her motivation. The love she seeks isn't pure agape, there's tons of eros involved. She is physically attracted to Battler since she wanted him to solve the epitagh the most despite having only spent one day with him, she is distraught that she can't bear or create children, and she is envious of Jessica's good looks.

I understand Yasu. I even feel bad for Yasu. But I feel worse for Jessica and Gohda, who were innocent, and I find Eva more compelling as a "flawed" character.

I guess to ape off of Type Moon - I always felt more for Kohaku than for Sakura, despite them both being, like Yasu, tragic villains.

I like Yasu a bit more than Sakura, since Yasu is active, but I can't hold her up to Kohaku since so many of her problems could have been solved with a simple phone call.

And I know that's the point - that this person is so pathetic and broken down inside that she can't make a phone call or catch a boat - but pity alone is not enough to get me to like a character.

Kohaku is just as insane and self-defeating as Yasu - but her plan makes sense and works most of the time despite the odds being against her. One maid versus supernatural demons. She uses the family's divisions against each other, and drugs the anemic guy to achieve her goal. Kohaku is pitiable, but also her plan is admirable because of how big a challenge she is taking on.

Yasu on the other hand - her plan is to fall in love with Battler and create a miracle by using gold, bombs, and accomplices. She's not like Kohaku - Yasu very much has the upper hand. Her end goal doesn't even really make sense, since Battler solving the epitagh wouldn't suddenly make George and Jessica and the Kanon and Shannon shit stop.

Yasu is pathetic, and I'm not using that as an insult, I'm using it as the most accurate possible description. Yasu failed to achieve her goals, and her forgeries managed to damage the Rokkenjima family even further by smearing Eva - a flawed character who actually DID develop and redeem herself somewhat.

I kind of wish Yasu didn't have any gender issues going on to begin with, since I think some people take a dislike of Yasu for a dislike of Trans-people, which isn't the case.
