The actors never meant to be noticed in most JAV. They don't even credited in the cover or online store page. Even the fucking directors get a tag in DMM but not the actors. And I don't mean amateur actors, this is the same even for pro actors with over a decade career. They're not a "star" like their western equivalent, therefore no need to have standards like you mentioned.
Some do keep in shape but mostly for staying healthy or they're into bodybuilding to begin with like Kuroda and Shimiken here, not to look good in camera because nobody (supposedly) care.
