Throughout Japanese media, I keep coming across dead parents and car crashes over and over again.

So and so's parent's are dead? Cause? Car crash. Does this have something to do with it being considered a no-fault death? Is the dead parent ingrained due to absent fathers?

Over and over it shows up in anime and TV. The big question is why.

Or is it just lazy character development?
