You can keep a smile and be happy with your lover as you carry on your day to day life, but some of the things you hear could really hurt you. Even if you knew that they were but fleeting desires. I don't think it would start right away, the deterioration of the relationship. But you know that after a while those thoughts will be used as ammunition for the smallest things, then the human/youkai naturally feels like their privacy has been torn down despite knowing what they were getting into.

I don't doubt that the Komeijis have serious mental fortitude but everyone has a point.
