This is exactly why most popular depictions of wizards show them in bathrobes and sandals: most often they're bumming around the house on a Saturday afternoon with a pipe and a newspaper when the page comes in and they can't be arsed to get dressed for a mere consultation call. They've got perfectly respectable suits, with pants and jackets and all, that they wear to parties and wizard duels and all that bunk but the minstrels don't attend those. They DO talk to knights and follow them occasionally, so that's the wizards they sing about. And when wizards show up elsewhere without a bathrobe on, people don't recognize them for wizards.

They could really use some publicists.
