If I believed you to be fully sincere and that you thought this through properly, do you think that by sweeping the problem under the rug, or asserting that there's no rug and no problem and that you're OK with being a flesh puppet you actually paint yourself as superior to me in any way?

I think it has more to do with the basic axioms we hold as to what makes life worth living.
As an agnostic, I have no complete certainty as to whether or not materialism is the full picture (that's kinda my main problem...) but I believe fully that this view is not compatible with meaning or ethics.
Consider that the amount of ink spilt over this, and the increasing infestation of our culture by nihilism has nothing to do with people being less rational or less smart than you.
