I passed N2 this winter and I have to say, I didn't think it was an exam that tested my Jap knowledge.

I felt that, you could have a decent knowledge of Japanese, but not do so well if you're not ready for the test

Where if you didn't have that much knowledge, but you studied the exams, and study for the tests specifically, you could do very well.

tl;dr I didn't think it was a very good measure of how much runes you know. I might take N1 next year if I feel like it though.
