Sometimes I wonder if they view themselves as emulating 3d figures or 2d anime characters.

I prefer the figure view, as properly emulating a 2d character would probably involve simply wearing a billboard. Or a dakimakura.cover.

Though I wish one of them would go whole hog and get plastic skin and stiff plastic clothing, to properly emulate an upscaled figure.
