Just finished the first route in Xenon. First time reading an untranslated VN in Japanese. My reading level is still very low, but with heavy dictionary usage I've been able to muddle through.
I think I'd say it has the best plot of all the Kanno VNs I've read so far (Desire, Eve Burst Error, YU-NO). The big reveal actually felt satisfying to me, in comparison to a lot of other stories where the mystery is more enjoyable than the answer. It does have less of the sort of character development and random banter that made Eve and YU-NO so endearing. But that's sort of a necessity, given the type of atmosphere the VN wants to create. Umemoto's soundtrack is great as usual.
