Other anons may not appreciate this but I do. All is in the name of guiding humanity down the right path, fellow translator.

I agree, I think all of the surface level shit of Ciconia is pretty boring. I think the Eva comparison is ironic because at its core Eva is like a character study of all the main characters and the background and setting and religious themes, while cool, takes a backseat to the characters and their issues and is pretty much just fluff. In comparison Ciconia introduces like 24 fucking characters off the bat and then doesn't really do anything with them except for give 5 of them slice of life moments in the Data Fragments. It's just not enough to keep me interested and overall feels pretty boring, especially considering that Higurashi and Umineko got me attached to the characters in half the time of Ciconia, and Umineko even had a comparatively big cast. I think I've said this before but the politics and worldbuilding feels kind of boring as well, basically modern day countries slapped into a big confederation without any real reason to side with any of the countries involved. It's not a clash of ideologies or philosophies to get us interested, it's just big meme blobs fighting over Spiritium.

I'm tentatively hopeful for Phase 2 because I really like the apocalyptic and end of the world stuff, but even then I feel like R07 handles it pretty poorly. Like you have earthquakes and the collapse of nanomachines across the world and the environment collapsing and giant fucking 4D printed things falling out from space into the oceans and disease and famine and hacked drones literally wiping out 3 billion people in indiscriminate massacres across the globe, which sounds cool as fuck when I write it down as like a list, but the way it's handled in Ciconia is just bland and you forget about it immediately after it happens. There's no emotional impact to any of them, it's just events that you're told happen.

It'd be like if the entire fingernail ripping scene in Higurashi that you're painfully forced to sit through and read on in gruesome detail was skipped and instead it Shion mentions being tortured and it hurting a lot. The apocalyptic atmosphere just isn't there and none of it really feels important.

Yes, in the sense that they have reached a level of enlightenment beyond most anons. Consider Italian anon for example: in relentlessly pushing his own personal narrative upon this general, he has implicitly taken control of the nature of discussion here for over a year, thus initiating a process of ascension beyond his human condition into a self-perpetuating, memetic existence (which can be properly termed "becoming a witch"). At this point, just hearing the name "Italian anon" is enough to strike fear in the hearts of any who frequent this place.

That the source of his power ultimately derives from what could be called a misinterpretation of Umineko is entirely irrelevant. In being willing to force his certain will upon his social environment instead of mistakenly adapting to it like the masses of untermenschen, he can truly be said to be one who will one day transcend the human condition with *certainty*.
