Maybe he just wanted to evangelize the game. It's relatively short (for a visual novel), more or less self-contained, has no weird sex or nudity, looks fantastic, and is available officially, it's a decent introduction to the nasuverse (alongside the KnK movies) for people looking to get into it.

There is pretty clearly things there are meant to be explored further in sequels, also, the plan was always making 3 VNs. There is even an extra chapter that "happens after the events last summer" and one of the characters is said to have broken an arm helping another one during that situation. I think it's pretty clear the original novel hasn't been fully adapted.
But yea, despite all that it ends in a pretty neat place, that ironically fits its incompleteness as well
