It was something about a ghost or something, that said something like "A million years is like a second to me, and a million dollars is like a cent to me", and some dude asking "can I get one of your cents then?", and the ghost responding "okay, just wait a second".

What literary level should visual novels be considered, if any?

Sure, dime-a-dozen eroge VNs aren't worth much, but what about ones with more plot (like YMK), merely tacked on sex scenes (particularly KEY VNs with ONE in particular), or short but touching VNs (like Narcissu and Planetarian)?

What about VNs like Ever17 (and the entire Infinity series) that go above and beyond?

I'd play with Koko if you know what I mean.
