/jp/ers are now defending certain manifestations of 3D? Since when?

Personally, I couldn't care less about the OP's image, and I don't think it's appropriate starting a 2D vs 3D shitstorm, but if you're going to post an image of a 3D girl--call it for what it is. Don't make excuses.

Also, while the terminology of "3D is pig disgusting" might sound like a meme, it's not. It's just a way of life for some users on /jp/. If you read the definition of otaku on wiki, you'll notice that there's an entire branch of otaku that only care for 2D.
