hhmmm, well the game does a decent job of introducing everything and everyone and sort of runs parallel to the show with its storyline but I would recommend watching the first season at least so then you can be OH SHIT IT'S THAT SONG FROM THE SHOW WHEN THE GIRLS WERE DOING THAT THING AND NOW I GET TO DO IT although there are more original songs than recycled ones from the show

It's pretty good, but since it's a mobile game they of course have a mechanic where you run out of energy after a handful games and either wait a while or use in-game rare currency/real money to get to play again, but the waiting time is next-to-nothing. It's not like other games where waiting times can be several hours or even days.

There's also a cool sort of card-collecting mechanic where you get randomly get idols depending on how well you do on songs, can combine them to make "idolized" idols and those that you don't want you can sacrifice them to a greater idol and feed them their weaker life essence, they call that "training" and it's how you level up individual idols. You can also buy random idols & rare idols. Luckily the game is constantly throwing free shit at you all the time, including a free random idol everyday.

Also each song that you play & individual idols will have an one of three "elements" attributed to them, so you have to build whole teams with that strategy in mind and not play a song with the wrong element team. At first you'll only have enough idols to make one team (of 9) so depending on the song you'l have to switch some out and replace them. Who you have as the team's leader also has an effect. So yeah it's pretty in-depth for a rhythm game.

The actual rhythm game is fun and relatively simple (tap, tap and hold, tap two areas at the same time), although it varies from song to song. One song's easy is another song's hard. Just one mistake of a quarter-second and you don't get that extra award. It's really addictive.

What else.... there's an actual story, with the voice actresses but unfortunately no real animation, and limited time events all year round.

Overall 10/10. They could have made this a cheap tie-in but it's relatively fairly deep. I can see why Moa is addicted to this.

But I highly recommend the remixes, it adds extra energy to the Moe goodness. You can always download them later once the original songs lost their kick.

But yeah they're pseudo-idols that are into Ariana Grande and Love Live, amongst other things, for people who supposedly hate normies, they sure do love these normie girls living in a normie world.
