Early dreadnoughts were weird too. So were early submarines (with some solid later efforts by Surcouf, the I-400 series and the hilariously self-flooding M-class), and most of the meleeships around 1800s. Monitors too. There were a lot of weird ships around.

But nothing on water so far could beat the cannons-on-spinning-top design that is Novgorod.

I don't think the Dreadnought can be improved, it's perfect as is. It's the only battleship ever to sink a submarine, and it did this by literally rolling over the thing. Can your battleship design do that? No it can't.

I can just see this Dreadnought crushing U-29 to submission with her thighs.
