Since they're genetically engineered (in my imagination) their lifespan would be quite long but they won't age but their health would deteriorate once their lifespan is about to end.

They're genetically engineered to fight against the Abyssals for the future of mankind and war doesn't have words such as "humane". Their purpose to live is to fight for our species survival. They are living weapons that can think and have feelings.
